REST, HOPE & MERCY

John the Baptist had only one message: Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. John spent his entire life telling everyone who Jesus was.  Now, he is in

prison, facing death, and he asks Jesus, "Are you really the One, or should we keep looking?" Why would he ask such a ridiculous question?  Imagine the reaction of the crowd when they heard that the great John the Baptist was now questioning Jesus' deity.

 Jesus was quick to defend John.  He knew that John wasn't weak or crazy.  He was just weary, and needed encouragement. It was this question by John that prompted Jesus to say, "Come unto Me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."  In fact, when Jesus said, "Come unto Me" he was actually speaking to three different groups of people.  All three groups are still with us today.

You will be stirred as you learn of Jesus' compassion for humanity, and how he relates that love to each of these three groups.  And you will probably be
